Angered by this, Hector lashes at Oswin only for Eliwood to calm him. Oswin knew of the news, but under Uther's strict orders, he was told not to tell Hector as he knew Hector would immediately head home.
Tragedy would strike Hector later when news arrives that Uther had passed from disease. Despite the warning that he will not die "peacefully, but in battle," Hector takes the axe anyways, asserting that he would go to any lengths to aid Eliwood. As Hector claims the axe, the spirit of Durban appears before Hector, warning him that taking Armads will curse him. After a grueling trial, Hector is deemed worthy to wield it.
